Technical Container Solution: Water Management Container for Rescue Department’s Diverse Operations
The design of demanding technical container solutions always begins with the customer’s requirements and progresses through close collaboration – as was the case with the water management container project between Helsinki City Rescue Department and Scandic Container.
The rescue department had a clear vision of how the container would be used and what was required of it. We, on the other hand, have solid experience in designing and implementing technical container solutions.
The starting point for the container design was the rescue department’s need for an easily transportable and deployable unit that could house pumps and hoses used in rescue operations. The water management container also needed to be usable in road traffic accidents for traffic control via an electronic traffic control panel operating on the container’s roof.
The water management container is used, among other things, in operations requiring exceptionally long hose layouts to fire sites where the rescue units’ own hoses are insufficient. The container’s pumps can also draw water from natural water sources. Additionally, the container’s pumps can be used, for example, to empty buildings and basements of water following damage.
Our experience in designing and implementing specialized technical containers has brought us customers from, among others, the Defense Forces, rescue services, and the oil industry.
The modifications made to containers are not always extensive, but they must be well-designed and manufactured to meet the customer’s requirements.
